Refer to this FAQ for answers to common questions about the home security systems provided by Southeast Home Security.
What is the difference in the way a security system is monitored?
A traditional landline monitoring will monitor using your home phone line. It is not the safest
option, as It is as simple as cutting your telephone line to disable the communication from your
security system. It is a slower method of communication as well. Some pros is that a land line is
generally cheaper than other methods.
You can monitor using WIFI as well. The security company uses your internet and router along
with a WiFi
chip placed inside your security panel to communicate to the monitoring station.
There are many downsides to monitoring using WIFI. An internet cable can still be cut, and If your
internet goes down or you should lose power you no longer have a monitored security system.
Although it is a much faster method of communication, it is not the most stable.
Much like a cell phone, the security company (Southeast Home Security) will install a Digital
Cellular Communicator inside the master control panel or keypad. In our opinion, cellular
monitoring is the safest and most reliable form of monitoring on the market today. If your alarm
should go off the Digital Cellular communicator sends the signal using cellular towers. In addition,
if you should lose your power, our security system has hours of battery backup life keeping your
security system online provided the cell phone towers are online. This form of monitoring your
home or business is more expensive for a security company to provide incurring both the cost of
equipment and cellular charges.
What do you mean by “No Hidden fees or Charges” and Transparency in your contracts?
There are two important clauses within most security contracts that security companies may
include in their contracts:
An Increase in Fees.
Some security company contracts allow them the right to increase the consumer's monthly
monitoring rate. Southeast Home Security Inc. locks the consumer into their rate; we do not have
the right to change the Monitoring rate during the initial term of the agreement.
A “Trip” or “Service” Fee
This fee is associated when a company provides service to your alarm system. This fee can range
from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars even with a warranty. Ask the company you may be
doing business with if such a fee is built into their contact. Southeast Home Security, Inc. does
not charge this fee, and we offer a lifetime warranty on our equipment that includes the batteries.
Will my pet trigger my motion detector?
Our Motion detectors are pet proof up to 40 pounds. With a larger dog or multiple dogs or cats it's recommended the motion detector is disabled if they will be present in the monitored area while you are away from home.
